Great LEGO Set - Pirates Imperial Flagship 10210
The Lego Pirates range of building toys has had a recent revival which has a wave of sets being released in early 2010. Definitely the largest and most considerable of these sets could be the Imperial Flagship. Big sailing ships are generally common lego sets if sales around the secondary industry are anything to go by. Most of these have been pirate ships, including the well-known Black Seas Barracuda, but this may be the very first main "good-guys" galleon to combat the pirate scourge.
There are over 1600 pieces and 9 minifigures in this large Lego Pirates Imperial Flagship set, so understandably lego recommends it be built by ages 14+. Keen younger fans that have experience interpreting lego instructions can obviously give this a go and will no doubt help their parents when they get stuck. The ship is big at 29.5" (75 cm) extended and 23.6" (60 cm) tall so you may well desire to clear some shelf space even though you are waiting for it to arrive due to the fact this can be one set you'll wish to maintain built and displayed.
There are so many details within the ship it would spoil the surprise to mention them all but highlights include: 4 firing cannons, ammunition crates, muskets, torches, cannonballs, prison using a rat, saw shark minifigurehead, a moving rudder, working anchor and also the captain's chambers complete that has a map, poison bottle, organ and treasure chest filled with jewels and gold.
Minifigures consist of the ship's captain, his daughter, a pirate captain prisoner with shackles, the ship's cook, a lieutenant, and four soldiers. They are all highly detailed and some have double sided heads, no doubt in preparation for their confrontation with gnarly pirates. It's good to have a cook on board and he fits appropriate into the ship's fully stocked galley.
This is an amazing Lego 10210 set for older fans who will really appreciate the attention to detail the designers have put into this model. No doubt, like all the other pirate-themed ships, it also will be a very interesting collection.
